So last week i finished my newest piece (also a school-assignment) : The Purple Rain necklace.
This necklace i made in honor of Prince.
I’ve been a fan since 1984, went to many concerts and have all his old vinyl records.
i even met my husband in line for a Prince gig !
When Prince passed away last year it was a pretty big shock for me and
i decided to make a necklace to honor him and designed somethingPrince-themed.
For this, i used some leftover purple perspex which my brother-in-law (Marco van Trigt)
used to laser-cut the Prince sign as a present for my birthday.
The assignment was to start with a flat piece of silver, and make a concave plate pendant by own design, with on the inside decorative frames that are shaped like tears.
I managed to set the perspex exactly in the “tears” frames i made into the silver.
Part of the assignment of my teacher was to present the piece with a high-polish finish, which was quite some work.
Happy to say i got a good grade for it and i think it has a very cool look !
More photos to follow soon. Other necklaces can be found here.
